The summer before my Senior Year, I tutored two kids (Grades 3rd and 7th) that struggled in school. They both had severe ADHD and were having trouble getting the support they needed to understand and complete their schoolwork. I took the job to make some extra money but then realized it was so much more than that. It gave me the opportunity to help these kids. I saw a lot of myself in these two boys as I could relate. I once was a kid that struggled all through school and was later diagnosed with ADHD as well. Throughout the whole summer, I spent three mornings a week going over to their house to try and find ways to engage these kids in learning. It was a challenge, and many times I questioned if any of these lessons I put together would ever work.I kept showing up and so did the boys. As I kept seeing the kids and learned more about how these two retain information, I learned games that would engage them. I turned every lesson I taught into a game of some sort, whether it was as simple as connecting terms to definitions or a full body game. I found that they seemed to gain the information much more quickly and learn how to apply it. When I made this discovery, I basically just "ran" with it! I saw extreme improvements in their abilities to solve and interpret problems in math, grammar and reading, and best of all their courage and self-esteem when it came to learning. I was so happy to make a positive impact on their learning. Their mom keeps me updated about their grades and they are doing much better now, scoring some of their best grades. In the end, I learned that even though it takes time, and each person learns differently, it is all worth it to help someone in need.

Please answer the following three questions in the box below.

I have fully committed to the University of Oregon, where I'll be studying Business Administration and a minor in Finance

Have you already in hand, or do you expect to receive a full tuition scholarship or grant which you intend to use to fund your education?

I would be grateful for any money as we do not have it in hand. My family and I have been going through financial struggles after we submitted our FASFA as well, so any help would be greatly appreciated.
